What is Terram T1000?

Terram T1000 geotextile roll is a geotextile membrane fabric perfect for landscaping, construction & engineering projects. It’s designed to allow water drainage, while holding its position. You’ll often find it in drainage systems as well as under driveways to prevent sinking.

Terram T1000 Applications

Terram has many different uses for different projects and tasks, which is what makes it such a handy tool. It’s primary function is supporting the drainage of an area, this can be applied to driveways, walking paths, sports fields, and as well as supporting soakaway crates & French drains. It is also a supporting layer when constructing pathways, car park foundations, embankments, etc. On top of this it can also add an extra layer of protection to pipelines and other utilities, helps ground stabilisation, filtration, and a weed suppression.

Step-By-Step Basic Installation Guide

For a quick installation guide, here’s the basics to give you an idea.

  1. Clear the ground of any debris: vegetation & large stones. Dig down to your preferred depth and make sure the surface is level.
  2. Roll out the Terram T1000 membrane and use a cutting tool or other sharp object to cut it the required size.
  3. If using multiple sheets, ensure there is a 300mm overlap to ensure sufficient layering.
  4. Secure in place using pegs, pins & weights.
  5. Add your sub-base layer (i.e. gravel, sand, or soil) on top of the membrane.
  6. Ensure the surface is compact to add stability to the surface layer.

Preparing The Area

Before installing your geotextile, make sure the ground is suitable for laying the membrane. This includes digging out your area and ensuring that it is level.  Remove any vegetation/rocks from the ground and dig a level space, replace any weak soil with a granular fit, and confirm the groundwork is firm.

Preparing Terram T1000

Now that the area is prepared, you can begin laying your geotextile. You will need a Stanley knife or other cutting tool. We recommend laying your fabric across the area, using other items to hold the fabric in place, and then cutting it while it’s placed to avoid cutting too short. You can tidy it up once it’s laid out. When laying separate sheets, we recommend a 30-50cm overlap for sufficient coverage.

Installing Terram T1000

Now that the geotextile is cut and the ground is dug up, you can use pegs/pins to hold the membrane in place, 1 pin per metre should do the trick. Once the groundwork is all set, we recommend laying a sub-base layer which will help to hold your top decorative layer in place, and then your decorative top-layer, this is of course optional if you prefer the
