More Information on Running Traps:
We provide a wide and extensive array of waste traps, including anti-siphon units and running traps, to match applications from bathrooms to wet rooms and kitchen sinks to washing machines. All water using appliances and fixtures within a house must have a water trap in the waste pipe to offer a water seal into the drains or atmosphere, this prevents smells, bacteria and insects entering the property. Most contemporary waste plumbing (besides W.C.s) utilise either 32mm (1.25 inch) (for hand basins) or 40mm (1.5 inch) (for sinks, bathrooms, showers, dishwashers, washing machines) plastic pipe and fittings (including traps); pipe runs over 2m (6 ft ) can utilise 50mm (2 inch) diameter pipe to prevent siphon effect when the waste is utilised.
The dimensions quoted are the inner pipe dimensions (and also the waste outlet from the sink/basin/bath etc), the outer diameter of the pipework does vary between different producers thus pipes and fitting may not be interchangeable. One of the most important aspects of waste water traps is the depth of seal. Typically the waste pipe fits into the trap by a screw coupling (using a compression seal ring) or a push fit'O' ring coupling - there is not much to pick between the two types.
