How to install Light Duty Galvanised Restraint Straps?

Horizontal Strap Installation: According to Approved Document A of the Building Regulations, you’ve got to provide lateral restraint on each floor, with a maximum spacing of 2 meters between them. When it comes to restraint straps “perpendicular” to the floor joists, ensure they’re snug against the masonry and fixed across the first 3 joists. As for straps “parallel” to the floor joists, they should be held tight to the masonry and be at least 1200mm in length. Make sure the characteristic tensile strength for these horizontal restraint straps is not less than 8kN.

Vertical Strap Installation: For vertical strapping, you need at least a 1-meter length to secure them timber wall plates, spacing them at intervals not exceeding 2 meters.
