Victorian Ogee Cast Iron Gutter systems – R/F Bracket
Victorian Ogee cast iron gutter systems require a robust bracket to support their weight. At EasyMerchant, we’ve got a range of rise and fall brackets that are ideally suited to the job.
How does a Victorian Ogee rise/fall bracket work?
Since Victorian Ogee cast iron guttering systems are heavy, they require a solid bracket to keep them in place. Made from galvanised stainless steel, these brackets mount directly into the wall – providing a solid base for a length of threaded rod on the bottom of a gutter bracket.
To prevent the bracket from rotating, the spike the mounts into the wall isn’t threaded – instead, the rod is held in place by nuts that tighten above and below it. This system also allows the brackets to be fixed in a neat consistent line on the property – but then raised or lowered, depending on the fall required at each point across the full run of guttering.
Fitting a Victorian Ogee rise/fall bracket to support a cast iron gutter
Unlike newer, plastic gutter brackets, a rise/fall bracket bracket can be installed at a consistent height along the property – with rise and fall accounted for by adjusting each bracket individually.
Therefore, you can mount a full run of brackets by picking the appropriate height for the first – then maintaining this level across the house.
Mount the bracket into the wall by drilling an appropriate size hole – then inserting the plastic included plastic spacer. You should use a suitable epoxy resin – before sliding the spike into its resting place.
Using a laser level of spirit level and string, you can mark and drill a full length of bracket holes – repeating the process on each.
Exceeding British Standards
We know it’s important to use high quality components when you’re fitting a cast iron gutter system. This is why we make sure each Victorian Ogee rise/fall bracket meets or exceed the appropriate British Standards.
