MDPE Fittings – 25mm MDPE Tee – WRAS Approved
In that range, we provide these MDPE equal tee fittings – designed to split a water supply into two.
What is an MDPE equal tee cold water fitting?
If you need to split a water supply into two, you need an equal tee to make it happen. The design of the equal tee means both branches of the new supply receive the same level of pressure from the feed.
The compression nature of the fittings make it quick and simple to install too – so whether you’re working with potable water through blue MDPE pipe – or using black MDPE pipe to run non-potable water to a feature, these provide a quick solution.
Fitting an MDPE equal tee compression fitting
To fit an tee adaptor, you’ll need to cut the supply MDPE pipe – so obviously it’s essential that you isolate the pipe from the mains water.
With this done, you’ll be able to cut the pipe as required. Dedicated plastic pipe shears will provide a neat cut – but if you decide to use a hacksaw, you’ll need to make sure that any burrs are tidied from the cut end – and for pipes with a diameter over 40mm, you should chamfer the end so you can make the connection neatly.
When the pipe is ready and you’ve fitted pipe liners, you can unscrew the nut on the connector until around half of the thread it covers is visible. Now this is loose, the pipe will slot into place – through the middle of the nut, the split ring, and the o-ring.
When inserted fully, you can tighten the fitting up by hand – although again, if the fitting is being used on a pipe with a diameter of more than 40mm, you might want to use a pipe wrench to make sure it’s adequately tight.
