What is an industrial gutter running outlet?

An industrial gutter running outlet is the part of the rainwater system than connects the horizontal gutter to the vertical downpipe. It’s designed to mount directly to the fascia board, and has two gaskets that create a watertight seal when the length of guttering is snapped into place.

An outlet doesn’t require a half round bracket to mount, it has its own fixing points and is usually the first part of the system that’s installed.

Fitting an industrial gutter running outlet

Since the outlet should be as close as possible to the ground drain, it’s a good idea to fit the industrial gutter running outlet first. From there, downpipe bends can be pushed onto the outlet at the bottom of the running outlet in order to bring the pipework closer to the building’s wall.

In some cases, the outlet will mount directly over the drain so it’s a good idea to have a plumb-bob to hand to make sure it’s sitting perfectly level.

The outlet will need to sit lower on the fascia board than the brackets that will mount your plastic guttering runs, so make sure you allow for 3mm of fall across every 1m between your furthest bracket and your running outlet.
