Installing a coupler

Generally, two twinwall duct pipes will not need to be 100% watertight – but when dealing with electric cabling, it’s important to make sure they are. As such, you should install a watertight seal when using a coupler with electric cabling.

First, you should make sure the end of the underground ducting pipe you’re dealing with is clean and free of any dirt or debris. If there are any damaged sections, cut these away to ensure your section is not compromised.

Place the seal into the third valley of the corrugated pipe – or, if you’re using 160mm, 137mm, 178mm, or 150mm pipe, place the seal in the second valley.

Next, apply silicone lubricant ensuring both sections of the pipe are off the ground (to ensure no dirt or debris is picked up). Now, push the coupler onto the pipe – making sure the pipe end comes to rest at the stop in the middle of the coupler.
